STUDENT DAY: Thanks so much to Jason Bittle and Aaron Sandbothe, for running the bowling lanes for our students’ enjoyment on Monday. They both took a day off to sponsor this event for our students, and it is much appreciated!

READING COUNTS ends Tuesday, April 24th. Your child must have reached 200 points by this date in order to attend the R. C. trip. The date for the trip is set for Tuesday, May 8th. We will be going to the Wonders of Wildlife Adventure Aquarium (Bass Pro) in Springfield, MO by bus. Parents are invited to go along and may transport their own child/ren, and ONLY their own child/ren, and then sign in at the aquarium. Only teachers and students will ride the bus. Only students, staff, parents may attend this trip – sorry – no younger siblings. Other plans are being finalized. We do know that the cost for each child will be $10 for aquarium and have not determined how much of that cost will be passed on to parent. Also, parents’ admittance fee will be approximately $27 (plus tax?) and will need to be paid at the entrance. This is a 10% reduction on the normal rate of $29.95. More details to follow. In addition to the trip, your child receives one entrance into the class drawing for a gift card for every 25 points over 200 that they earn.

IMPROMPTU DRILLS: OLOSS will be having several emergency drills throughout the next weeks. If your child mentions them (or even if they don’t), you may take the opportunity to discuss the subject. We have tornado, fire, earthquake, and intruder/lockdown drills.

EASTER EGG HUNT: We will have our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Wednesday, March 28th. Each child in grades PK – 6th should bring in one dozen candy-filled eggs to the classroom, marked with your child’s name. Please wait until Monday, March 26 before sending those in. The 7th & 8th graders will be hiding the eggs for the classes, so you may remember them with some treats as well. Candy that doesn’t melt easily is best. We also have students with peanut allergies, so we ask that no peanut product be sent. Thanks so much!

BABY CHICKS! In the days following Easter, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders will have incubators in their classrooms, to witness first-hand, the hatching of baby chicks. This program is offered to our classrooms each year through the Miller County Extension Office and is a big hit with the students!

EMAIL CHANGE: Rosie’s email has been changed to olosschoolsecretary@gmail.com., effective immediately.

PHOTOGRAPHER FOUND: Thanks to Missy Beck for volunteering to take 8th grade pictures. The date is set for Friday, April 20, with a rain-out date of Monday, April 23.

GRADUATION DRESS CODE: Girls – dresses, no more than two inches above the knee, no spaghetti straps showing (may wear shawl to cover). Students will be wearing cap/gown through Mass and awards ceremony and for pictures.

PRESCHOOL GRADUATION: The preschool graduation will be in conjunction with the awards ceremony this year, which is tentatively scheduled for May 17th at 9:30 am.

FINAL DAY OF SCHOOL – Thursday, May 17: We will have Mass at 8:00 am, have the awards ceremony & preschool graduation, beginning at 9:30 am, and dismiss at 11:00 am. THERE WILL BE NO LUNCH SERVED AND NO EXTENDED CARE OFFERED IN THE AFTERNOON.

SNOW DAY/FLU DAY MAKE-UP: Due to snow day closings, SCHOOL WILL BE IN SESSION ON TUES., APRIL 3RD.

TAX INFORMAION: If you need record of payments for 2017 tax purposes for preschool or extended care, you may find record of all payments on Option C. If your tax preparer needs our Employer ID #, it is 44-0546364. If you have any difficulty finding the information you need, you may contact Rosie in the office.
