March 7, 2017

Dear Parents,

Hope all are enjoying the warm weather and staying healthy. If you have not sent in your child's pictures, please do at this time. They love to see their pictures up and have other people ask about them, even the older students stop by to take a look. A few other reminders: please keep reading those books and sending in Reading Logs; if you have not sent in a snack for the Month of March you may do that at anytime; remember to keep a jacket in your child's book bag; and remember to put May 6th on your calendar for Graduation.

Last week we were busy with the Letter “X”, The Diamond Shape, Ash Wednesday, learning left and right, and Dr. Seuss' Birthday. We read lots of Dr. Seuss books, some of their favorites were: “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” and making Fish with our Hand Prints; “The Cat in the Hat” and making a Cat in the Hat and Eating Cat in the Hat Cake with ice cream; “The Foot Book” and painting our feet; and making Oobleck(messy, but their favorite). They loved the video “Green Eggs and Ham” and most tried them for lunch, we also watched the “Sneetches” and discussed how God made us all and wants us to treat everyone with kindness. Some were a little afraid of the idea of Ashes on forehead, for Ash Wednesday but all did a great job in Church.

This week we traded out the Puppets and Puppet Stage for doll house with lots of accessories, I was surprised how much they loved this, even the boys. We traded out the Moon Sand in Activity Table for the Water Beads, another big hit. But the biggest hit this week was when our Prayer Pals came to join us to learn about the Letter “W” for Wind and Weather. They made Edible Kites together, experimented with a bag of items to see if they could move them with their own wind, did a Cause and Effect project, Kites with color words project, and then went outside to try some activities that need wind. They blew bubbles, flew kites, used Pin Wheels and Spinners, threw Frisbee, and used wiffle balls. I wish you could have seen them, they had a blast, I believe the older students enjoyed it as much as the younger ones. Other things we are doing this week to go along with our Weather Theme is playing “It's Raining Numbers” and “Puddle Jumpers”; learning Weather Opposites; making rain clouds and hand print suns; learning several Weather Songs; reading lots of books with Weather Theme; and making Tornado in a bottle. In Religion we are talking about Lent and making good choices. We continue working on Sign of Cross, Morning Prayer, Prayer Before Meals, and Angel of God Prayer. Most importantly we continue to work on treating others as we would treat Jesus.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

God Bless!

Miss Marie
