Dear
Parents,
Thank
you all for sending in snacks, you may send in items for “Family
Fun Night Basket at anytime. Every Thursday we go to Church so if you
would like to send some change with your child to put in basket, it
really makes them feel good. If they do a little something to earn
the money would be another way to teach them to give and feel proud.
We
will be having our Frozen Party on January 24th along with
the Kindergarten. Your child may come to school as one of the Frozen
Characters or in their Pjs. All next week we will be learning about
“I” is for ice and icicles. They children will be learning about
frozen and melted, solid and liquids, and the Season of Winter.
Here
are some of the things that have kept us busy this week:
'Reading:
We worked on the Letter “S” on Starfall, did the “Upper Case
Workout”, ABC Flash Cards, “Phonics ABC Song “ on You Tube,
practiced writing our names and the letter “S”, made “S is for
Snowman” out of Magic Nuddles, made edible snowman, and made Hand
Print Snow Men.
Math:
We did “Exercise to 100 by 1s” Workout and “Zero the Hero”
Workout; counted forward and backwards with Snowmen; found Snowmen
that were the same and the ones different; put correct number of
buttons on Snowmen; practiced our colors with Scholastic Snowman
Diagram; and sang along to a lot of Snowmen Counting songs.
S.S./Science:
The children did “The Snowman Hokey Pokey”, learned about the
Four Seasons, Sequenced the building of a Snowman, and enjoyed
Show-N-Tell and Letter Bag.
Religion:
This week we learned all about Baptism and John the Baptist, did
lessons in our books “Who is Jesus”, “The Holy Family”, and
“What is Baptism?”. The children have been doing a good job at
Mass with their Prayer Pals. We continue to work on Sign of Cross,
genuflecting, and also our prayers in the classroom.
Crafts:
In class we made several Snowmen Crafts out of foam and made Paper
Plate Snowmen.
Story
Time: The books they enjoyed were: “A Very Merry Snowman”,
“Hello Snowman”, “The Biggest Best Snowman Ever”, “When It
Starts to Snow”, “Sadie and the Snowman”, “One Snowy Day”,
and “Dora's Snowy Day”. Most weeks we also are lucky to have the
4th Graders pay us a visit on Thursday Afternoons and
partner up with the children to read to them. They really look
forward to this and ask when the older students are coming.
If
you ever have any questions or concerns please contact me at anytime.
God
Bless!
Miss
Marie
